WESTERN SUPER MARE - SOMERSET
Monday 6th - Friday 10th July, 2020
A relaxing break by the sea, staying at the Smith’s Hotel, ideally situated on the promenade at Western Super Mare. We will explore England’s smallest city of Wells and meet Cheddar Man at Cheddar Gorge, famously unveiled in 2018. We will be based in the friendly, family run hotel, situated on the promenade, just a ten minute walk from the town. The bedrooms are all comfortable in a traditional style and are accessible by lift. There is an informal restaurant, a traditional bar and an outside terrace offering plenty of seating and views of the coast. There will be live musical entertainment each night.
There will be two day excursions and a day to explore the delights of Western Super Mare, or just relax by the sea. Our first trip will be to Wells, where you will learn the history of Wells Cathedral, the famous 14th century Astronomical Clock, and the Bishop’s Palace. Our second trip will be to Cheddar Gorge & Caves, visiting the remarkable Gough’s Cave and Cox’s Cave, full of beautiful rock formations and stunning features. We will also visit the Museum of Prehistory where we discover the story of cannibalistic Horse Hunters of Cheddar Gorge and learn about Cheddar Man, the oldest skeleton to be found in Britain.
